Worst NES Mega Man Game?

What is everyone's thoughts on this? I'm going to still have to go with Mega Man 4. In my eyes it has the worst robot masters, worst music, biggest quality decrease from MM3, and worst ending. I understand that they tried a few different things in this one like switching up wily with cossack in the beginning and stuff like that but this game has always rubbed me the wrong way.

As a child my fav game was MM2. I loved it! Also owned mega man 5 and loved it too. My mom bought me mm4 one day after school and I was so excited. I immediately saw the quality difference, even at like 8 years old. Dust man? Ring man? GIMME A BREAK?! Biggest mistake that this game made was coming out after MM3 however. What is everyone's thoughts?

  1. I still like the game, even though it may be the weakest in the series. I absolutely agree with you about the murky graphics though. It was the number 1 thing that always bugged me about the game. Until I saw that video of yours, I wasn't sure if I was the only one who ever felt that way about MM4's graphics. From the grey character select screen, to levels like a sewer stage, a garbage stage, and a sand stage, etc. They were all so dark and dreary compared to the other MM titles.

As for favorite. That would have to be MegaMan 3. My friend had 2, but I was never quite as impressed by it. Looking back on it now though, MM2 is an overall better game from a design stand point... but from it's musical score and graphical presentation, MM3 is the better of the two.

  2. i'm getting agree with on that MM1-3 are incredible MM4 is just terrible. Besides maybe its just me but i found that game to be way to easy. The only boss i had somewhat a hard time with in mm4 is Ring Man

    1. Without using E tanks or his weakness, Ring Man is quite a challenging yet very satisfying boss to defeat.

  3. I think 6 is worse

funny thing is that 4 has one of the best title screen songs and 6 has probably the best "level select" theme. even though they are the worst of the NES games

  5. Mega Man 4 and 6 are my least favourite Mega Mans on the NES by far, I do think 6 is worse though, 4 is just filled with a lot of annoying stuff.

I've made videos on both these games and why they piss me off

  6. Perhaps I'm weird but I actually LIKED Mega Man 4 and remember renting it from the local video store on multiple occasions (that bright colours didn't matter to me at all). Perhaps it was due to the fact that it was the second Mega Man game I ever played (with three being the first). On that note, not ALL the bosses were pushovers. Both Skull Man and Dive Man could put up a decent fight if you decided to fight them with just your mega buster rather than exploiting their weakness.

That said, I didn't actually like "Mega Man 1" very much. After playing all the sequels first, it just felt really "weird" to me with the out of place scoring system, having to fight enemies between the gates just before a boss, etc. I'm certain my perspective would be different had I actually played it before any of the others but given what I had experienced, I just couldn't bring myself to accept it.
