Mass Effect 3's Ending...

I really am at a loss for words. I don't wanna say it was bad, but it surely was not a fitting conclusion to the Mass Effect series. It was super short and very abrupt almost reminding me of Killzone 3's ending (but I still don't mind that ending that much.) What is everyone's opinion of the ending?

  1. To be honest I thought it was complete shit. Not only does all of the choices and development through the entire series get thrown out the window, but it is completely incoherent and doesn't fit together with the rest of the story. The mass relays are destroyed for no reason, also they are destroyed in every ending even though the kid said it would be destroyed in only one. The crew teleports back to the Normandy somehow and are chased by who knows what, and it doesn't affect anyone else on earth or outside of it. There are much more inconsistencies. Also the tone changes completely from emotional to just plain depressing, in a bad way. Not to mention every ending is exactly the same just with different color explosions and 2 seconds of different footage. In one ending Commander Shepard lives, and its pretty stupid. I wasn't expecting much from this game. But wow did they drop the ball. My red headed, badass ladies man Shepard deserved better than this. A sacrifice would have been awesome if done right, but everyone is disappointed because it makes them feel like they did it all for nothing. I got over 5000 military strength so I could get the perfect ending, nope. You needed to have imported a save, which my old ME1 and ME2 saves are on my 360 and it broke so I had to remake my Shepard on my PS3. I could have gotten 2000 and have gotten the same ending, Bullshit! Both choices are terrible. Its either get raped by a elephant or get raped by a gorilla. So all in all after all of that build up for 3 games, all of those choices you made, I would call it one of the worst endings in gaming. The game itself is really good, not finished, but good. It was better than 2. But despite 1's unacceptable bugs and graphical errors it had the best story, the best atmosphere, and the ending was fucking epic and made me feel like a million bucks. The mass effect series itself is very overrated, but I will still admit despite the shit endings 2 and 3 had it was still worth playing.

  2. Hey, I was planning on buying ME3 but now that I have read the post I don't know anymore. Would you guys recommend still buying this game?

  3. This is just what I have heard. This was not the original ending. The original ending was completely different. not just that, the majority of the fucking plot was different. Originally the reapers where trying to prevent ''Dark energy'' which was referenced and hinted at past ME games. There were originally to be 2 choices. Destroy the reapers, and hope humanity finds a way to prevent the Dark energy or sacrifice all organics to the reapers to help them stop it. This was changed due to the major script leak. I saw this on a few videos and websites.

  4. I agree with what MonkeyUpTheAss said. This ending almost felt "tacked on". Had this been any other game, it would have probably been acceptable but this is Mass Effect we're talking about. The only game series where the choices you made in the previous titles considerably affect your game experience in the next instalment. All of that should have come together in the ending and we should have seen numerous scenes to reflect everything we've done throughout all three titles.

Instead we get three very similar endings that do not even match the description given to us from the kid. Again, it feels "tacked on" like Bioware ran out of time just before that last boss.

Might I also add that this game doesn't have a real "final boss". You instead have to endure a brutal survival session with a swarm of mini-bosses coming at you all at once.

  5. The ending I got was that Shepard sacrificed himself so he could control the reapers or some shit like that. It sucked yes

  6. Apparently, (though this is unconfirmed) they planned this all along so they could release and expansion DLC.... whether that's true of not remains to be seen.

For me the endings were terrible, they promised 17 different endings but they all were the same with minor variations. I hope they don't charge for any new ending dlc bu knowing EA/BioWare they probably will.

  7. The ending is setting up for a sequel. did anyone stick around for the after credits cutscene?

    1. The ending is set up for a completely different setting, a different time period (hundreds of generations on) and game (focusing on a shooter based style for the player and the vehicles. It is speculated by former programmers of BioWare and the former writers that this was initially the idea to start up a shooter based MMO. The video of the programmer giving his thought on the game and the original plotline involving "dark energy" was flagged by EA and is no longer up. A sequel doesn't change the fact that they sold an incomplete game and essentially lied about everything they promised.

  8. I remember a while back reading about a script leak from Mass Effect 3. My theory is that when major plot points got leaked online, Bioware panicked and scrambled to make a new ending. I'm not 100% on this, but it would definately explain the half-assery and significant plot holes in the end of the game.

    1. The problem with that is that they are charging for their new DLCs. So everyone bought an incomplete game. How do I know this? Well a DLC dubbed the "Spectre Pack" is due out for multiplayer and it is $15 - $20 dollars depending on which edition you get. So going on this and EA's reputation the fans will have to pay for the ending after all and they sold an incomplete game.

You should check out this video Rob. It suggests that the final act in Mass Effect 3 was merely an indoctrination attempt brought on by the attack from Harbinger. It has some pretty compelling theories, but my main concern is that EA has screwed us again and is going to charge out the ass for the "real ending DLC".
    Your thoughts?...

  10. too damn short for one thing. i would love to know what happened to the other species and see if they rebuilt or not. it wasn't very good. The game was great but the game ended in a cliffhanger. If watch the credits all the way through there is a cutscene after the credits roll.

  11. How the fuck is Bioware gonna build up hype takin' 'bout "take back Earth" when your left with an ending like that. I got a better idea "TAKE BACK THIS FUCKING GAME!"
