What did you guys think of Twisted Metal?

I loved it as I stated in my video but I want to know your opinion. Is it the best twisted metal game? The worst? Is David Jaffe an idiot? Discuss here.

  1. Its fucking great. I only have a few beefs with it

    - getting into matches is a bit iffy still
    - "free for all deathmatch" is pretty much all about luck and stealing other people's kills. its my least favorite mode and its the one everyone wants to do.
    - the dollface boss was really irritating

other than that, the game is fucking great. my favorite mode is "nuke." except when youre on a team that sucks and wont do the objectives.

I LOVE the live action cutscenes. I dont think Ive seen any other games do that since the 90s. Its done so flawlessly too. They might be making a twisted metal movie, and if its as good as these cutscenes, im down for it.

the controls are perfect. They have every thing you need to adapt to the situations around you and the battles flow perfectly because of it.

some sites bitched about the game being too arcadey and old school. like, check out this bullshit review from G4. luckily this guy already got torn a new asshole and humiliated himself in the comment section of his own review

  5. A kick ass game, and a must buy for Twisted Metal fans. Putting that aside however, here's the main gripe I have for this game: The characters should stick to their own fucking vehicles dammit! >=O I hate driving the Reaper with Sweet Tooth, or Axel with Mr. Grim, etc. It just doesn't make any sense to me, and there's not as many characters because of it. I like the idea of gangs this time around though, but whatever...

  6. @Ralf C. Belmondo

you pretty much answered your own question at the end. they wanted to have gangs/factions for this massive Multiplayer experience. im not worrying about continuity errors in a MP game. im not playing uncharted online thinking

"why would nathan drake kill sully? this doesnt make any sense!"

  10. David Jaffe is an idiot based on what I saw of Episode 2 of Season 3 of The Tester. They booted that ginger bitch just because she was the ugliest girl on the show (Which she was) but they didnt boot the fucking mexican that was speaking to everyone in Spanish which they didnt understand during the challenge. He even said that her speaking in spanish which her teammate couldnt understand was "not a big deal". I guess that means David Jaffe must speak like 9 different languages and let's his team members just speak whatever the fuck they want, that was pretty retarded. He does make some good games though.

  11. Aside from connection problems, the multiplayer is great. Twisted Metal was one of my favorite serieseses when I was growing up and it's amazing to finally be able to play it online (I never got to play Black online). Like a lot of other people I'm pretty disappointed with the lack of actual characters and numerous stories. The stories and endings were always pretty goofy, but they added this whole other aspect to the world of Twisted Metal and made you want to get skilled with every car to see all of their endings. Plus it feels weird to see Sweet Tooth on a motorcycle or in Axel. To me it doesn't make sense that these psychopaths would have "gangs" and the only mode that I think makes the gangs necessary is Nuke, but they could have just figured something else out for that. Plus the stories are kind of weak and definitely worse than Black's. I thought since they were only focusing on 3 stories that they'd all be extra cool or something. Them being live action is okay, but I think the CGI ones in Black and even the comic book style endings in TM2 were more effective. Those endings seemed more specific and timeless, while the cutscenes in the new one feel like they're just ripping off 300 and Sin City.

Despite all that though, the gameplay (which is what is most important I guess) is really fun. I hope the connection problems get fixed before people get tired of putting up with them and move on.

  12. I agree joe, I definitely got a sin city vibe from the endings. TM Black had my favorite endings cuz they were so fucked up.

  13. I didn't have that initial impression with the cut scenes. Firstly, it reminds me of old psx fmvs, particularly from Warkhawk, Resident Evil, and the lost endings of the original Twisted Metal. I think that's what they were mainly going for.
